The Woodlands High School Scuba Club Constitution and By-Laws

 

ARTICLE I:  NAME & PURPOSE

Section A: Name – The official name of this club shall be The Woodlands High School Scuba Club.

Section B: Purpose – The purpose of this club shall be:

  1. Engage members’ interests in Scuba diving.
  2. Provide an environment where students can discuss topics related to Scuba diving.

 

ARTICLE II:  MEMBERSHIP

Section A: Eligibility – Membership shall be open to every student at The Woodlands High School.

ARTICLE III:  OFFICERS

Section A: Officers – The officers shall be President, Vice-President, and Secretary.

Section B: Eligibility – Officers must be an active member.

Section C: Election – Candidates can self-nominated or be nominated by other members of the club or the club sponsor. The officers shall be elected at the second meeting of the school year by a simple majority of the vote of the members present except the candidate's own vote.

Section D: Term – The officers shall serve until the next election is held.

Section E: Special Elections – Special elections are held if there is a vacancy in any officer position. Special election dates are decided by the President; if the President position is vacant the Vice-President will decide the date. All other stipulations of Section C apply.

 

ARTICLE IV:  DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section A: President – it shall be the duty of the President to:

ARTICLE V:  MEETINGS

Section A: Meetings – Regular meetings shall be held monthly on a school day during the regular academic year.

Section B: Quorum – A quorum shall consist of active club members present.

 

ARTICLE VI:  EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Section A: Responsibility – Management of this club shall be vested in an Executive Committee responsible for organizing the entire membership and upholding these bylaws.

Section B: Membership – This committee shall consist of the officers as listed in Article III, Section A.

Section C: Meetings – This committee shall meet at least once a month, prior to regular meetings of the club, to organize and plan membership meetings and future activities.

ARTICLE VII:  SPONSOR

Section A: Selection – there shall be a Woodlands High School faculty member (Sponsor) who serves voluntarily with the coordination of the school administrators.

Section B: Duties – The responsibilities of the Sponsor shall be to:

meetings, long range plans, goals, and challenges for the club.

ARTICLE IX:  AMENDMENTS

Section A: Selection – These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the chapter membership.

Section B: Notice – All members shall receive advance notice of the proposed amendment one meeting before it is voted on.
